Adulterant

Xylazine ('Tranq') confirmed in drug supply outside North America

First confirmed lab detections of xylazine-adulterated fentanyl in the UK and EU supply. Wound-care and naloxone-limit guidance is being updated by harm-reduction services.

Xylazine is a veterinary tranquilizer — not an opioid — so naloxone does not reverse it, though you should still give naloxone for suspected fentanyl co-exposure.

Its hallmark is necrotic skin wounds far from injection sites. Wounds need medical care even when small.
